A Night Under the Spotlight

A lively restaurant at Galleria Mall in Ft Lauderdale is home to many regulars and singers Christina Sichta and David Coppola. Truluck’s is the “Best Surf and Turf 2012” Seafood Steak & Crab House restaurant attributed by Gold Coast Magazine. The company also has locations in Boca Raton and Miami, Florida.  Christina Sichta has been with the company for five years and "floats" between the three locations.

The Ft. Lauderdale location affords an exciting atmosphere with a laid-back vibe. The restaurant has an excellent happy hour with half priced drinks and appetizers which is usually "standing room only" at the bar. Try the crab cakes; they are truly outstanding!

Christina grew up in Virginia, Ohio, and Colorado but proudly calls South Florida, home. She studied Musical Theatre at Syracuse University in New York. Singing is “a labor of love” according to her, but to any listening ear, she seems to hit every note effortlessly.

Christina’s flawless voice captures the attention of everyone in the room as she belts out a variety of tunes ranging from Train’s “Drops of Jupiter” to Whitney Houston’s “Saving All My Love For You.” David accompanies Christina on the piano and he too sings with a slight rock-n-roll rasp, making the two a magnificent and complementing duo.

Exotic Beauty

It was at an open casting call that led to my discovery of Wekney Ferguson. She sat in a crowd of aspiring models, but it didn’t take long at all to spot her unique and exotic beauty in the mix. Her beautiful curly hair, and stunning green eyes were natural features that could not be ignored.

When it was Wekney’s turn to demonstrate her cat walk, her style utilized her knowledge and expertise of dance to create a flawless walk. Not only does Wekney look like a model and walk like one, but her friendly and bubbly personality pulls those main components together to complete the total model package.

Wekney, part Colombian and part Jamaican, was such a pleasure to work with as she brought to life creative ideas. Her look is one that cannot be replicated. She is currently studying at Nova Southeastern University.

Watch out world, Wekney is soon going to be a face you cannot forget.

What Really Matters!

Near Death Experiences (NDEs) have strong and profound effects on most experiencers.  Such experiences tend to exert a powerful effect on a person’s motivations, values, and conduct.  It has been found that experiencer’s resume life by living it more fully, loving more openly, and fearing death less, if at all.  Their lives seem more grounded in a sense of purpose and it is more consciously shaped by the spiritual values of love, compassion, and acceptance.  It has been documented that those people who have undergone near death experiences become more altruistic, less materialistic, and more loving.  They lose their taste for ego-boosting achievement.

People who have experienced critical illness or near death experiences display motivation for change. Strong emotions invoke a power to change attitudes, personality, and existing beliefs.

Perhaps during the “experience”, one has the chance to contemplate what is truly important.  High priority values are found to be those of kindness, compassion, and unconditional love of others; low priority values are money, competition and power.  Superficial aspects of your life are rendered unimportant.  Acts in which you selflessly express concern for your fellow men is what really matters.  After a NDE there is a greater willingness to accept others and be less judgmental of other people.

I was admitted to the intensive care unit a year ago, when I was found to be in septic shock.  Having survived the experience, I have often contemplated how best I might be able to show my appreciation to those that took care of me, to my family members that expressed immeasurable love and concern, and give thanks that I am still alive.

Through photography I will portray the bond that develops among people and how their experiences help cultivate and strengthen the relationship between them.  The images will portray what values are important in people’s lives.

“A Diamond in the Rough”

A typical tween night out led Ashley Warters to a new opportunity; one that she never imagined would occur. As a seventh grader an agent for Front Management Modeling Agency approached Ashley. She saw potential in her, “a diamond in the rough”.

After the removal of Ashley’s braces, her orthodontist gave her a card for a free portrait session with Mark Vacker Photography. The renowned photographer also saw Ashley’s potential as a model ready to showcase her beauty and bubbly personality to the world. Mark worked diligently with Ashley to help her build a portfolio which would set this 5’10” fifteen year olds dreams of modeling into motion.

Although Ashley has a passion for modeling, she is also very dedicated to her schoolwork. Ashley has competed in various sports in school ranging from Lacrosse to Raiders for JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps). As a “bright student”, Ashley will be attending the College Academy at Broward College in which she will be enrolled in college courses while simultaneously finishing up her high school credits.
